Fierce is an international biannual festival of cross art form performance centred in Birmingham. The festival embraces theatre, dance, music, installations, activism, digital practices and parties. Fierce fills the city with performances in theatres, galleries and other out-of-the-ordinary spaces.

Fierce Festival was founded in 1998 by Mark Ball, now Associate Director at Manchester International Festival. In 2009, Laura McDermott and Harun Morrison took over as joint artistic directors of Fierce. They produced five editions of Fierce Festival as joint artistic directors between 2009 and 2015.

In December 2016 it was announced that Aaron Wright would take up the post of Artistic Director from Spring 2016. In spring 2017 Pippa joined the team as Festival Producer, working closely with Aaron to produce his inaugural festival to critical acclaim. They continue to work together and Pippa became Executive Producer in 2019. With the wider team they have delivered the 2019, 2022 festivals, Key to the City and The Healing Gardens of Bab (both major Birmingham 2022 Festival projects as part of the Commonwealth Games Cultural programme). After the success of Key to the City Fierce produced Public Trust by the same artist in 2023, and are now managing the onward touring life of this project in the UK. In 2023 a restructure meant Pippa became Director (Producing).

Fierce is also a consortium partner on Horizon, a programme designed to internationalise the practice of artists based in England.

Fierce Festival is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
